Technology, Learning, & Cognition

Jamie Mongeon

Masters Student

I am a first-year MEd student in the General Educational Psychology stream here at McGill. During my undergraduate studies, I completed an honours thesis where I used prevalidated tools to help develop smartphone-based neuropsychological tests for individuals with depression. I also contributed to a now-published systematic review on verbal memory impairments in mood and psychotic disorders. These experiences deepened my interest in both cognitive psychology and the application of technology in mental health and education.
Next year, I plan to complete my master's project in the Teaching, Learning & Cognition (TLC) lab under the supervision of Dr. Dubé. My primary research interests include cognitive deficits, coping skills, and the use of educational technology-based interventions, particularly for adolescents. I am eager to explore which educational technologies are most effective in supporting mental health and cognitive functioning in students, and to understand why these tools work. My other research interests include self-directed learning, the selection and efficacy of educational apps, and how digital tools can foster independent problem-solving and critical thinking.
